About
Jorge Penadés (b. Málaga, 1985) investigates and designs new possibilities for our built environment. Drawing on his Mediterranean heritage and a family tradition of cabinetmaking, his office works across objects and spaces, developing work that aims to generate new forms of value.
This approach is reflected in recent projects across different scales and contexts: Alhacena, a public spatial infrastructure designed for Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid (2026); a reversible wool rug for the Italian manufacturer cc-tapis (2026); Uprooted, an ongoing investigation into Spain’s olive-oil industry (2025–ongoing); a Camper store at the Shin-Marunouchi Building in Tokyo (2025); and a limited-edition furniture collection developed for Berluti (2021).
Penadés’ work has received international recognition in cultural, commercial and editorial environments. He has lectured at institutions such as the V&A and exhibited in museums including Mudac in Lausanne and Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. His work has been represented by design galleries such as The Future Perfect in New York and Machado-Muñoz in Madrid. Alongside regular coverage in international publications, Penadés was named ‘The One to Watch’ by Architectural Digest US in its July/August 2025 issue. His Structural Skin project is part of the permanent collection at the Vitra Design Museum.
