PENADES

Poli-Piel was my first solo show commissioned by Madrid based gallery Machado-Muñoz. The project was launched during Madrid Design Festival 2018.

Based on the Structural Skin material as a common thread and a consistent interest in finding new construction vocabularies, Pablo Sevilla, Esther Bapsallethe collection include a personal interpretation of a dressing room unit, a coffee table, a chair, a side table, two table lamps, a mirror and a tray. Those eight one-off pieces are the result of a further exploration on leather and its structural possibilities paired together with sheet materials like marble, aluminum and glass.

As a spin off from the study conducted to conceive this new body of work I identified a new principle: by rolling and gluing a piece of leather against a coniform shape I discovered a self-standing structure that could hosts a light source. This new principle germinated in two conical table lamps.
